How can we reduce global warming / energy shortage problems?

I understand that lot of research is being carried out globally to solve these problems.

However common man can contribute a lot by sharing his ideas/experiences with others.

Simultaneously people are trying different methods in different countries.

However lot of efforts are just wasted because of repeatition of efforts.

If we share our ideas /experiences then we will become truly Global Citizen.

One simple example is replace ordinary tube by CFL (Compact Fluroscent Lamp).

This reduces lighting power consumption by 80-85%.

Also it is economical as pay back period is less than one year.

Please share your experience and be a Good Global Citizen.
